SSS choke spec help

Post by jlatrace »

I need some help. I have looked everywhere and cannot find the specs for a filter choke for a 150W SSS. Closest I get is the Sunn schematic that shows two Sunn 3-10 chokes in parallel.. Any suggestions?

Most high power tube amps used a 4 Henry choke Quad KT88 or 6550A
Fender used a 4 Henry 90mA in the 200 watt and 400 watt amps. I think that's on the weak side.
I'm starting out with a 5 Henry 150mA. The transformers that Dumble cannibalized for the
150 watt SSS did not use a choke.

Good luck, Steve.

I'd guess 3-5H, ca 150mA (for KT88s)
