Rocket B+ Voltage - what is most desirable?
Just looking to build yet another Rocket, and am just choosing some iron. Have any of you experimented with different B+ voltages? I think the clean headroom would be increased dramatically with 360 VDC. Would like to hear your findings....

Re: Rocket B+ Voltage - what is most desirable?
I think Allyn Meyers posted something once indicating that by using the 280V tap on the power tranny rather than the 250V tap, the amp gained a lot of "Girth". I dunno if he has time to chime in and add the details in for us but it has been done.
Considering that the Rocket is derived directly from the AC-30 and the AC-30 uses something like a 290V secondary, there should be plenty of data to give us confidence it will not only work but it actually works well.
Most of us would be glad to to learn of the results if you give it a try.
I have done a couple things to the Rocket circuit to add a little cleanliness if that is a goal unto itself... details are free for the asking if you are curious.
thanks,
rj
