What did Ken use on which model?
How essential is the iron to the sound?
What's available for the DIY builder?
Thanks,

Re: What's the deal on transformers?
Dear Bear
I have heard that four different brands of transformers were used.
The first one (I think) is the Stancor transformers, there are the Heybour transformers, some other brand of transformer that I'm completely unaware of, and the Pacific. (I should point out that I don't know the correct time line on this one.)
Most people associate the Pacific brand of transformer with Trainwreck amps.
Not having heard a real Trainwreck, I don't know how much difference there is between the Heyboer transformer and the Pacific ones.
