I'm trying to give help to a guy in an italian forum
He want a "Special" 5F1 with the follow features
1) Active FX Loop
2) VVR
3) Feedback contol
4) ToneStack
5) Anti Hum Triks
6) Headphone exit
7) Recorder exit
So I've try to draw a Schematic and a Layout
As Tone Control, as I like it, I used a James Tone Control (modded with shift control by Mr. Merlin), attached you can see the frequency response
I've try to optimize the position of the electrolytic caps on the layout as to prevent long current path
The FX Loop circuit is arranged in a way that permit also the use of a 12dw7 tube instead of a 12au7 (the 12au7 section of 12dw7 as send and the 12ax7 section of 12dw7 as return)
The VVR circuit to be used (instead of those on the schematic) is this one

Please, if you see any error or have any council, report it
Many Thanks in Advance
K
p.s.: If someone want it I can post also the .jsch files

The VVR is useless in SE amps imo.
A in line master volume is a much better idea I believe.

How so Chris? Too much tech for the same return in volume control as an inline master in that application? Just wondering.ChrisM wrote:The VVR is useless in SE amps imo.

I have a SE amp with VVR and the VVR does not respond like it normally does in a PP SE amp.Colossal wrote:How so Chris? Too much tech for the same return in volume control as an inline master in that application? Just wondering.ChrisM wrote:The VVR is useless in SE amps imo.

Since there is no phase inverter and SE amps generally have fairly simple circuits the master volume can come right before the output tube's grid.

What if power tube distortion is desired?

After the fact attenuation?
To get power breakup you have to crank the amp up and attenuate before the speakers but after the power.
