Hey everyone I need some input and opinions on A Fender Reverb Circuit and Pans.
I tried several Reverb Pans... some new and some older of same number type pan and they all seem to sound different from each other. Some are harder sounding, others are smooth but decay longer ?????? Looking for smooth and shorter decay.
Now I know many add a dwell and change things in the reverb circuit but are most of the tweaks just adjusting to a certain sounding pan they have ?????
So far with all the tweaks and mods I have found nothing that will give you a shorter delay if your pan just happens to be that way. am I correct on this ??????

You can mechanically shorten the decay time by messing with the springs (stuffing in little pieces of tissue or foam) but results are unpredictable.
I got two tanks recently, both 4AB3C1C, one was Mod and one Accutronics. The Mod tank has a noticeably longer delay.
The tanks are so cheap, I think it's cool to have a couple on hand to swap if you want.

Re: Fender Reverb Circuit and Reverb Pan Consistency
This what I noticed between the Accutronics and the MOD Reverb Pan that may explain a few things.
The Mod Pan has two cut outs in the metal plate underneath the springs and two rubber grommets for damping the Floating part from hitting the pan. The Accutronics does not which means mechanically and acoustically this will play a part in the sound difference without electronics involved.
Another part I think the metal in the springs may be a little different. If I run my finger nail across the Accutronics springs the sound is bright and scratchy and with the MOD pan it is softer and mellow sounding. ???
In my opinion reverb pans are no different than using different metal parts on a electric guitar that effect what comes thru the pickups.
Or I could be wrong
