Just a ref for sound, not a rep for east amps! Altho it`s not bad!

Re: 80`s dumble
The Dumble has some extra raspiness on the notes, the East is lacking.
Still wonder where that comes from.
edit: going back and forth, with the neck pickup there's little difference.

Re: 80`s dumble
I thought the east was more smooth at points than the Dumble, I enjoyed the Duane Allman licks!

80`s Dumble
Mine has rasp once you get up on the OD master! Had a great time w/it at a Black congregation a few hours away, First time i`ve had a really good work out with it, i LOVE it! Singing fat, massive juicy harmonics and that bite on the note kinda like the one Greg in Germany had.. left out the NFB on first stage, and the brit caps on the plate to cathode of OD..Sounds just fine to me w/o it! EL-34`s..183 circuit!wokkel wrote:The Dumble has some extra raspiness on the notes, the East is lacking.

That amp is 0123 at Guitar Exchange..It's located in Catonsville Md (Baltimore)
Jeff Bober (Mr Buddha) Now East amps is an outstanding and well respected Amp tech and great guy!!..We were actually judges once for Guitar Centers best guitarist contest a few years back..Years ago (2000) I had the opportunity to play that amp and if memory serves it was LOUD!! tight and very dynamic..At the time Bruce mentioned it needed a little maintenance (caps and maybe tubes) but was/is a wonderful amp and allot of fun to play!!..He also had the matching D-Lator

Re: 80`s dumble
AFAIK this ODS head and its matching cabinet at Guitar Exchange in Baltimore and played in this video isn't ODS #0123 and its matching cabinet, but the "sister amp (and cabinet)" of ODS #0123, all built by Alexander Dumble for the same player (and his '56 maple neck Stratocaster). But because both amps and cabinets look indeed very similar (at least when viewed from the front), it's indeed easy to confuse this ODS and its matching cabinet at Guitar Exchange with ODS #0123 and its matching cabinet. IMO the serial # of the ODS at Guitar Exchange and played in this video seems to be in the #011X range (see attached picture).talbany wrote:That amp is 0123 at Guitar Exchange..It's located in Catonsville Md (Baltimore)

OK!...So the one I played and the one Jeff is playing in the video is ser #0115..There are no current pics here of 123 and it still resides in Japan correct..
BTW.Bruce had 2 Dumble ODS /w matching cabs (different color suede) when I was there..If the other was 0123 I think may be "Grey" if memory serves me??

You're right: AFAIR there aren't any pictures (or videos etc.) of #0123 and its matching cabinet in the internet.talbany wrote:So the one I played and the one Jeff is playing in the video is ser #0115..There are no current pics here of 123 and it still resides in Japan correct. But as I wrote #0123 and cabinet and #0115 (if the last digit is indeed a "5") and cabinet look nearly identical. The only visible differences I remember are:
- - the colour of the "WARNING / PRE-SET VOLTAGE" plate on the back (#011X = http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 222#309222 / #0123 = red like http://personalpages.manchester.ac.uk/s ... ages/7.jpg)
- the colour and form of the switch on the back to preset the voltage. (#011X = http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 222#309222 / #0123 = red and 'Fender style' like http://personalpages.manchester.ac.uk/s ... ages/7.jpg)
- the style of the "Dumble" logo on the back (#011X = http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 222#309222 / #0123 = http://personalpages.manchester.ac.uk/s ... 124090.jpg)
All the best!
Cheers,
Max
