So, here's a wacky Express clip, no movie necessary!

I think those EL34's are about done, though....

What is your setup for recording with the Zoom H4? Are you using the built-in mics? Mic modelling? How far away?Jackie Treehorn wrote:I just got one of those Zoom H4 Handy Recorders. It's definitely one of those "how did I survive without it???" items for me.

It was an SM 57 straight into the Zoom. Sounds close mic'd to me.mdroberts1243 wrote: What is your setup for recording with the Zoom H4? Are you using the built-in mics? Mic modelling? How far away?
Thx,
What mics were you using?mdroberts1243 wrote: In my first tries the built in microphones seem to clip/distort while close-mic'ing the amplifier.
They are the standard Heyboers, 5.2k output transformer. The voltages are pretty close to the standard Kelly/Francesca schematics. Well, I've got a lower than standard cap into the PI, .022 vs .1, so maybe it works with the .047's to the power tubes so there's not too much low end mush. I think the pictures of Ginger looked like .047's.Clyde wrote:Super! If you don't mind, what TX's are you using? What would some of the voltages be and what's the primary Z of the OPT? I never seem to be able to use caps that big as my amps always get too tubby. Nice job.
This was a SM57 plugged straight into the Zoom's pre, close mic'd on the cabinet. Yeah, I don't think the built in mics would be optimal for close mic'ing a cab. I haven't messed around too much with the mic modeling. I tried them but wasn't blown away by them, so I think I leave it off for the built in mics.mdroberts1243 wrote: What is your setup for recording with the Zoom H4? Are you using the built-in mics?
