1968 Fender Silverface Twin Reverb?
Is this a good candidate for blackfacing?
Re: 1968 Fender Silverface Twin Reverb?
There are several models that it may be, eg AB763, AB568 or an AC568.
Whichever, in the first instance, how about just replacing the electrolytic caps, tighten tube socket contacts, check resistor values, check the bias is appropriate, then see how it sounds?

I don't currently own one. I just wondered if that one would be a good candidate.pdf64 wrote:There are several models that it may be, eg AB763, AB568 or an AC568.

Yes, at least being a model made before the early to mid 70s they still have not upped the transformer voltages and switched to a master volume with a UL type output stage, and also the wiring has not progressed to the full mess of the other amps I posted about!
The only consideration is that the speakers start to suck around them as Jensen went south and the Utah speakers that they switched to where a good amount less efficient !
Use the AB 765 schematic to blackface it back to, but one thing that you may want to change depending on how loud you play the amp is the excess Bass which you can roll off by changing the PI output coupling caps down to .022 uf.

I'm not aware of that, did you mean AB763?Use the AB 765 schematic to blackface it
