Opinions on the Fuchs Plush Verbrator?

Post by Paul-in-KC »

All,

This seems like this may belong under the "Dumbleator Settings and advice" thread, but starting new thread - my apologies if this has been thoroughly discussed previously.

I was just wondering what builders/players (that have used - or heard) thought of the "Fuchs Verbrator" as a ready-made Dumbleator that has a built-in reverb?

Seems there is some added value of having reverb in with that external buffered loop. Since standard D-style circuits are in need of both to some degree.

I think if I build another amp with a passive loop in the schematic, I'll try to do something like adding the buffering internally with the Mesa twist (as shared here on TAG).

But, that's water under the bridge for the build that I recently finished.

Any guys here using (or past tense) the "Fuchs Verbrator" for their reverb and loop?'' Seems like there are plenty of folks happy with using similar sorts of external buffered loops.

All comments welcome and appreciated.

It's just another thing to take along with your equipment. It can be a PIA. I've noticed even Robben Ford now doesn't use his Dumbleator and has everything in front of the amp on his pedal board. Makes life a lot simpler.

Joey Landreth borrowed one of my amps and he put everything in front too didn't use the loop. Sounded fantastic.

If I'm doing a full on session I take everything, if it's a grab and go gig I tend not to.

Thanks!

That's useful input.

Since I'm not really huge in to pedals or reverb. But do think both have their place. I really prefer to get all of the sound from the guitar and a good tube amp. Granted you can't get "effects" sounds - but you can get great sound.

I think I'll wait and see if I feel like I need the buffered loop for delay effects (as opposed to plugging the front).

They work great- can't really go wrong with it! I've got the TubeFx loop version, its dead quiet and works great..
I have no affiliation with Andy/Fuchs amps - but he knows what he's doing and makes great stuff ;)

I have a built a #102 for someone and offered to make a dumblelator as well.
He thought it was too much hassle and asked if there wasn't anything smaller with built in reverb.
I suggested a Fuchs Verbrator which he has now.
I played a couple of times with his rig and I like it.
Downside is you cant really crank the master on the amp to drive the verbrators cathode follower into fat compression as it will distort the reverb side of the Verbrator.
Other than that: highly recomendable due to it's size, price and sound.

I've just actually checked out what it is and didn't realise it was a pedal. Very nice and I wish I'd seen this before buying my Strymon recently. I've never seen on in the UK so will have a look around and see if I can source one.

thanks for the heads up guys. I can use my Strymon with my rocket or soon to be tweedled dee :D
