As the title says,
I Put some Russian: 6П3С-Е valves in my bluesmaster today. I had a day off and played the amp for an hour this morning to reacquaint myself. I then waited for a cool down and installed the Russian: 6П3С-Е.
Checked the voltages/Bias and let it settle in for a while then played it for an hour afterwards.
result:
I couldn't tell any difference I'm afraid from the Tube town 6L6's . I wish I could but being honest I coudn't. All I'll say is they're cheap if you get them direct friom Russia or Ukraine like I did. They're a short bottle 6L6 military spec so I think they will last longer than the tube town valves.
So really it's a result, long lasting military spec valves that cost 50% less than the current crop of 6L6's
over and out....comrades.

I’m using them all the time since were 2 a dime. Now they run a bit more expensive. They sound excellent and are very durable.
Just have to take into account that these should be biased as 5881.
Niki
P.S. Kudos for the Cyrillic P

thanks Nikki,
I left the bias at 60% of 30w, having had a quick google, to keep the same 60% I would need to drop it a bit as they're 23W valve. Or....just leave them biased a bit hotter.
@34mv with 480vDC that's about 70% bias I've calculated.
the Cyrillic P was a cut and paste glad you liked it.

They are pretty durable devices.
I kept them at 500V and @85% for quite a long time, exaclty the -EV designation ones which are the military once that are holding nicely.

And the C Cyrillic is actually an S in western alphabet. So 6Π3C is actually 6P3S. I bought some nice black glass ex USSR Mil, 6Π6C (6P6S) 6v6 equivalents when they were about £10 a matched pair. They withstand the voltage very well, (434v on my OTS IIRC) . Just a bit darker than 6L6's and break up earlier obviously. But nice for a change. In fact now its prompted me I might just bang them back in for a while. I set the output to 8R for a 16R cab.norburybrook wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 10:25 amthanks Nikki,

6P3S when i was buying them was 2 usd..more than 10 years ago i never consider this like a good candidate, looks very poor and cheap tube
6P3S-E was 4 usd... i was never using them over 400V, but now i see that people useing them up to 500V (i will never do that because for me this is a waay too much for g2, datasheet is saying 250V)
so military tube, 23W max IMHO.. it is not good to consider it like a 30W tube because anode is smaller compared to 6L6GC tubes
after New Sensor took factory, all tubes were branded like Sovtek 5881 WGC, WXT etc etc...

Well, they sound good, quiet and reliable so far. Been loving them in my tweedle Dee for the last 6 months.
The difference in biasing is 60% for 6L6 or 70% for the Russian valve. Still got headroom. I could always drop back to 60% of I wanted.
They're cheap so if they last 6 months then it's still fine.

I've been using them for years in all my amps. I get mine from Siberian Tubes in Russia - by the carton
He who dies with the most tubes... wins
