New Express project(s)
I got talked into building an Express circuit for a friend recently. I spent some time preparing for the project and in the interim decided to build one for myself and a third using a bit different setup. I really want to keep these as close to Kens circuit and layout, including the Buds chassis and bottom plates.. The only deviation planned is a bifurcated bias circuit to allow for easier use of currently available tubes.https://ampgarage.com/forum/download/fi ... w&id=66793

Re: New Express project(s)
I have a set of boards populated and will need to do the faceplate to finish the front of the chassis. I think the bias circuit will work well. I was planning on making the chassis and transformer "stabilizer" spacers out of delrin so am going to work on that.

Re: New Express project(s)
Turned out some black delrin spacers and attached the one between transformers to the O/T bell end cover.

Which style of boards are you after? I have seen a few here making the boards using Garolite in the later style. They look very good and being CNC'd I'm sure are spot on. Vector board is available in usable sizes and can be cut to suit. I guess the question would be are you wanting to use flea clips or turrets.

I'd prefer turrets over flea clips.dblgun wrote: ↑Sun May 29, 2022 3:11 pm Which style of boards are you after? I have seen a few here making the boards using Garolite in the later style. Re: New Express project(s)
The boards in the linked thread should be .092 perfs on roughly .260 centers so are probably just what you are after. I have some of that board material and original clips so will probably do some building with the later used materials in the future. It is curious that KF didn't use turrets with this board material as they are very common. There are advantages to the terminals used by Ken if utilized in the proper fashion. Individual component changes are much easier explaining why they were intended for prototyping. I am becoming quite fond of them.

Very nice work!
Re: New Express project(s)
Got the chassis finished and test fit the faceplate and cabinet as well as bolting up the transformers. I should get started building soon, possibly tomorrow. I'm pretty stoked and looking forward getting the first one done.
