Hi all,
Has anyone experimented with getting a bit more bite and gain out of the Rhythm (clip) channel on a Jubilee?
I tried recently a .47uF bypass on the 1.5k V2A cathode, which really made the drive a bit crispier a la 2203 style, but also made the mids very prominent. I found these mids to be difficult to dial out with the tonestack mids control, which works quite differently (and is more effective) than the normal Marshall tonestack. Lowering the mids on these tonestacks quickly makes it sound very odd, leaving a lot of lower mids and treble fizz that are difficult to dial out.
I'm still not 100% convinced either about the standard configuration. The lead channel is a bit too compressed for me, and the Rhythm clip channel is a tad too clean and misses sparkle.
What are your experiences?
