What transformers do you use in your funk chassis?
I'm waiting to buy some transformers and I'm not sure which ones will fit. would anything built for a fender twin amp fit funk's chassis? Not many websites state the mounting dimensions on thier transformers which is dumb.

I used a Hammond 290FX Twin replacement PT. Fit perfectly. I imagine any Twin/Showman (125P34A type I think) replacement would fit. I got my OT from Funk and my choke from Allenamps (recycled from an older project).

I used Mercury Magnetics Fender Twin iron. The PT fits fine but the 100 watt OPT is a freakin' HUGE chunk of iron. Had to drill a couple holes but no big deal. If I ever get caught up, I'm going to finish the amp someday.

I used stock Fender replacements - Twin P.T., Twin Choke and Evil Twin O.T. (to get the output Z taps). P.T. and Choke fit perfect, O.T. requires 2 new holes.

The chassis is punched for Twin Reverb Iron. I have Heyboer sets for $225 plus s&h. The PT has an extra tap for your relays (6V) and 7A of filament current.
If you use a different OT you may have to drill some holes.

I built 2 Dumble's using Funk chassis for HiGain. He bought MM iron and I couldn't have been happier with the results. Just some minor drilling but the voltages were right on and the PT sounded huge but still bright.Normster wrote:I used Mercury Magnetics Fender Twin iron. Hey Brandon,
What type of Lamination do the Heyboers have? M6? or other?
Thanks.
Jim

The twin OT's are built to original spec, I believe they were M6 Iron.

I think all the woodward-schumacher stuff was M6, at least for fenders and music man's.

Brandon and Gary,
Thanks, I figured, they were M6 . I read elsewhere that some iron from Heyboer used other laminations was just curious what was being used for your iron.
Thanks,
Jim
