Is a 100w marshall plexi replacement OT good for a clone?

Post by massygt6 »

Hi!
first of all let me make my best wishes to you all for this new year...
I have the chance to take an hammond 1750u guitar series for a good price...
is a marshall plexi/800 100w replacement with a 1700 ohms primary...is it good for an ODS clone?
thanks...

yes, great if you build a el34 amp,

it would work with 6l6 but you would preferably want a little higher pri-imp if 6l6 is used, that is if you want to use the correct output impedances to match the speaker

I have used the 100W marshall iron from Antique in the past and it sounded pretty nice. I even have one d-clone amp here, 100W, that is build with a Sovtek MIG 100 transformer set (550v on plates) that sounds frigging awesome with 6L6's. The MIG tranny measured 2400 p/p. That amp puts out about 110 watts before it goes into clipping.
