Jammed with Jerry Donahue!
Hi Chaps,
My bass player Scott knows Jerry Donahue quite well (Studio Engineer)and my band and i went along to a local jam last night knowing that Jerry would be there. Jerry asked us to back him on some tunes, so we got up twice in the evening the play with him. Really nice chap and a great player.
Anyway, Jerry has asked us to play with him in July and August when he gets back from Europe. We're going to be his band for a couple of months! How cool is that. He's sending us some tunes to go through and he's asked me to sing.
Keep pinching myself........
Sorry, just had to share.
Cheers,
Rob.

Re: Jammed with Jerry Donahue!
Thanks guys, it really is a surprise to me. I was a "pro" player in my early twenties but kind of gave it up when family came along and got myself a regular nine to five. My bass player and drummer ARE pro players, it's what they do for a living, and as a result I have to fit in around their other commitments, but this is a great opportunity for me as a singer and also as a guitarist. Scott gave Jerry a lift home last night and he sent me this text this morning "Just thought you'd be pleased to know, Jerry was truely blown away with your playing and general musicianship".
I just hope it all comes together.
It was an interesting mix of styles and tones last night too. Jerry used a Peavey Classic 50 and his signature Peavey guitar. His tones are edgey clean, country rock, with all his off the wall bending chops. I played a 335 with a Zendrive into one of the house amps and I'm more blues/fusion with jazzy cleans and more gain on the leads. On the gigs I'll be using either a Fuchs ODS SLX 100 or the Ceriatone Overtone. We come from completely different directions but it seems to work really well.
I'll keep you posted when the gigs happen. I'm so buzzing about this

I met him once in Norway, and he was a really nice guy! He signed a guitar for a friend of mine, and posed for a picture. The guitar was a Jerry Donahue signature of course

Nice one man!
If you gig down Sarf with JD, post it on this site and I'll come to the gig.
