Anyone selling head cabinets?

Post by Gibson »

Is there anyone selling cabinets in N. America for Dumble-type builders? I'm in Canada. I know Ceriatone sells cabinets but would cost more to have it shipped and not sure if they are the best quality (wood, tolex etc.). There is one guy on Ebay selling head cabs for Ceriatones but his D-style cabs don't look the greatest as far as looking like a copy.
The chassis i have is the copy one from Natchanis. I'm not even sure if the one from Natchanis or even Ceriatone chassis have the same dimensions as the real deal.
Any ideas?

Thanks Tele. I was just looking to see if anyone had them already available rather than custom builds. Aside from Ceriatone or the guy on Ebay there was one site i found a little while ago that was building them in the US. They looked like good builds. His site does not appear to be up anymore. There is also one in Japan that also sells the combo cabinets and speaker enclosers. They looked pretty authentic as far as cosmetics and quatity. The site is all in Japanese though and again it's overseas. I may contact Trinity if i cannot find anyone eles.

Ceriatone

Post by David Root »

I checked Ceriatone $200 for the cab..... and $149 for UPS shipping to Canada!!! Where the hell is this thing coming from??? That's BS! Ceriatone lists the weight as 25 kg, that's 55 lbs. I don't believe that either.

Thanks for the info guys. Looks like Gabkits does not ship to Canada. As far as the weight of the Ceriatone Cab being 25 kg, that has to be an error. The complete chassis, complete with transformers, is listed at 19 kg. I can't see the head cab weighing that much.

The Ceriatone OTS chassis is not as deep. It is about 5/8" shallower than the Nan' 80s chassis. I have an OTS and a Nan' 80s chassis. I haven't tried the Nan chassis in the OTS cabinet, but it may be a tight fit in back due to the additional depth.

Hey guys, I have a cabinet maker that has been doing custom work for me, but not the ultra high end stuff. Most of these are Baltic Birch and I either put a thin coat of clear poly on them or a thick coat of something I call "tough black". I also have a few of them in solid Cherry or Maple wood. For the most part, I don't do finish work but only put the clear poly on them to protect the wood.

I haven't put the ODS sized cabinets on the web site yet... waiting on the matching chassis that are due anytime. You can see the product styles and get an idea of the costs from the Wreck cabinets that I've posted. The ODS cabinets will be slightly more expensive.

Ive shipped a few of them to Canada using USPS... so far no issues with customs and I typically ship for the cost of shipping, packaging, and insurance.

Send me a note if you have any questions...

I had to check that myself and your right, Nik has it listed at 25 kg.
I wonder if it is because of the oversize carton why he has it listed like that.

You could always email him and ask about it.
He has always been prompt with answers when I have emailed him.

He has the whole amp listed as Full working chassis, faceplate, tubes not included. Footswitch included. @ 15.5 kg?

I wonder if it is a misprint?

But he lists the cab at that weight for all the models.

Thanks RJ.
I would deffinately be interested. Prices are reasonable and comparable to others i've seen on the net. And i prefer postal service over courier for most stuff that's over the border because of the brokerage fees some of the couriers charge. This would be perfect for me.
When do you think you will have them up on your site?

True Nik is prompt on replies. I would say it is an error judging by the different weights of items.
Someone else on here got the Ceriatone cab for a build and re-tolexed it, saying it came with fairly thin tolex. This made me a bit hesitant on ordering a cab from Ceriatone. Although some of his other kits seem reasonable for the price. I may try one of his Expression kits sometime without the tranny's. A friend has one of these amps and it sounded decent.

Thanks for the responses on the cabs guys. Any other suggestions?

You could try PMing muchxs on the forum here. I can't remember if he does D style ones regularly, but he builds nice looking cabs and might be willing to do one for you.
