Re: Liverpool bass reduction?

Considering what adding a 2n2 in parallel did to the tone, I may try reducing that cap to 1nF. I'll report my findings when I get a chance to make that change.

Re: Liverpool bass reduction?

Just tried another 2n2 in parallel. As I expected, the bass response increased.

Littlewyan wrote: Wed Feb 08, 2023 11:14 pm What if you clip another 2.2nF in parallel with the existing 2.2nF between the 2nd and 3rd stages? Interested to see if you get closer to Pete's sound or if you feel the bass situation becomes much worse.
Wouldn't that increase the bass response?

Re: Liverpool bass reduction?

I think the Bass pot is meant to be a Linear taper 250K. I'm a bit concerned that there could be something else wrong here, as with a 250K Log Taper bass pot and an already big low end cut with 2.2nF and 68K you should have a very lean amp right now. I actually thought it sounded a tad trebley in t...

Volume and treble are A1M, middle is B25K, bass is A250K.

Littlewyan wrote: Wed Feb 08, 2023 3:25 pm What values did you use for the tonestack? Have you checked your wiring? Do the controls all work how they should? Same for the presence.
47pF treble, 22nF mid and bass. 100nF presence. Yep, they all seem to work as they should.

bepone wrote: Wed Feb 08, 2023 9:50 am can we see pictures of all those tubes? are they all 12AX7? EHX has always the highest gain, so probably is almost dead..
expected voltage gain is 50 so, measured voltage must be around 4.50VAC, all what is less indicating worn tube
I'll try to get some pictures of them today.

Liverpool preamp tube differences

Tonight, I thought I'd try rolling some tubes in v1 of my Liverpool. I noticed some very dramatic differences between different tubes. Much more than I've ever noticed in any of my other amps. So, for curiosity sake, I thought I'd take some oscilloscope measurements. I've never done this before, and...

Re: Liverpool bass reduction?

How about this clip? Does your Liverpool sound similar to this? (Bear in mind I think he might be using a G12H cab here) https://youtu.be/3aP4yFdejSo?t=276 This is mine through a Suhr Greenback IR, https://on.soundcloud.com/n3EfJ Sounded good. It is different to other clips though I see what you me...

Re: Liverpool bass reduction?

:? No, thanks! omg it's not relevant. Umm see the (-) phase of your waveforms. 0 is not the middle. There is about 30% (+) DC offset in your recordings. Yeah. I am never happy. You should see what happens when someone tweets about physics or a Youtube channel talks about vintage instruments. ...
