That 1K-25 watt resistor...
In the Express, does it put off a lot of heat?
Re: That 1K-25 watt resistor...
No, the part is overrated by about 15-20 watts, but many have argued that it does make it very reliable. There's been a lot of threads in the past on the subject.

Great then. I have it packed in close to my filter caps.
Maybe I should have searched it!

Maybe I'm out of the loop, but that was awesome.markr14850 wrote:http://lmgtfy.com/?q=site%3Aampgarage.com+1k+25wleadfootdriver wrote:Maybe I should have searched it!
In general, you shouldn't have the body of resistors touching caps, but close is okay IMHO in this instance. I'm somewhat amazed at what people get away with with hot cathode resistors right up next to bypass caps, however.

Discussion about that 1k 25w resistor has been around the track quite a few times.

10 watters appear to get too hot. AC transients (when actually played) outstrip the steady-state DC rating.

I actually read a thread yesterday where Bruce Collins said that Ken actually told him the part was grossly overrated, and that he just used what he had on hand. Just sayin'...
