How to tolex a Fender head
Anyone know where to find decent photos or illustrations on how to tolex a Fender head, like Bassman, Bandmaster, Tremolux?
Looks like three sides (left, bottom, right) are one piece, and then a top piece is applied with overlapping edges.
Seems like one yard (36" x 54") will be plenty to cover the head and rear panel. True?

Gentleman is having me restore this Tremolux Amp to basic black. Here I am, stripping the fab snakeskin stuff, reportedly applied by Bruce Zinky when he lived here in Chico, CA. <http://www.csuchico.edu/pub/cs/spring_0 ... re_04.html>
Do I need to strip the tacky old glue off? If so, what's the best stuff to use?

Tolex
Yea ,if you dont it might show,I did a twin recover here with seafoam green and did not get it perfectly smooth and you can see some bumpy spots. So much of the tolex now a days is thin which does not help. The more grunt work you put into it the better results you will be rewarded with. You will get it.take your time,Have fun ,Mikey

Goo Gone failed, too. Guess it's a 2-parter. Thinner, then sander.

Ah! I found the best solution! Called the owner and said, "would you like to save a bunch of money?" Now he is going to strip this box. See? Creative thinking.

I have used lacquer thinner for this. The glue was a DAP contact cement.
