WGS 12" Et65

Post by stretch2011 »

I am really digging this speaker :) and for $69 new its hard to beat. Currently using it through a Hall 1X12" Cab. It sounds ridiculously awesome with a tweed bassman/jtm45 type amp.

I have one in a Dumble style 1x12 and it sounds great with everything I've tried through it.

I have a pair in my Dumble style 212 oval back and they are great with whatever amp I plug this cab into.

Just watched this thanks to your post:

Sounds better to my ear than the Greenback. I was gonna get a G12-65 in a 1x12 for my first amp build, but this might just be worth trying first. Wonder if there's anywhere to get them in Canada without paying more in shipping than the speaker costs.

Theashe: If there is a musicians friend in Canada then yes!

brewdude: I am wanting to build a 1x12 dumble cab. Did you do yours as a open or closed back?

Mark: If I don't sell this unfinished 2X12 oval back dumble cab I have, its going to be mine :)

ALSO if you go directly through WGS the shipping is like $20ish if not more. But if you buy them from musicians friend you get the same price for the speaker ($69) but only $5ish for shipping.

I have an ET-65 in my BFDR and it is excellent, just the ticket.
I have an ET-90 in my 6G6B clone combo I built and it is huge sounding, really good.
Very impressive products, and instant shipping.
This company seems to be on their game.

I'm all for them. Their prices on the American stuff isn't all that great compared to the name brands they are knocking off. But they are higher wattage speakers. It is a give and take I suppose.

Here's the quoted price for the WGS ET65 from Diffusion Audio, a Quebec retailer of WGS speakers. Ouch! At that point, it's pretty much worth it to buy the Celestions from Long and McQuade.

Musician's Friend doesn't ship that item to Canada, either. Damn.

Cheapest place in Canada I've found is www.qcomponents.ca, but unfortunately they don't carry WGS. They have all Celestions, I bought 12" G12 Blue and 10" Gold recently.

They do have stock speakers in Canada, so no 50$US shipping cost. About $20 CDN all the way to BC from Ontario.

After having a lot of problems with new Celestion Vintage 30 speakers arriving with problems I had no problem switching to WGS and I also like Mojotone speaker quality.

Eminence are very reasonable if I can decide which speaker to get they have a huge option to choose from.

I have a pair of Scumbacks but they need some repair started sounding bad all of a sudden after only amp testing use at home no gigging.

Jensen speakers are also good option and dealers are sure pushing them at good prices.

I hate the new jensens.
I own a bunch of them and have ended up swapping em all out for other stuff.
I prefer WGS and Eminence.

Ceramic Jensen Jets? I like them. I've been using the Night Hawk, Falcon, and Electric Lightning. OTOH, I'm not a fan of the "Vintage" ceramic series.
