point to point D-lator build in hammond rack chassis
Here is my non-pcb take on the loop, it is smooth and 3-d sounding.

Time to drop the K-bomb
looks great um....will you be doing kits?
Re: point to point D-lator build in hammond rack chassis
Oh no... I told my fiance that I wouldn't build any more amps for a while. You keep posting stuff like this and you'll make a liar out of me.
Now, on the off chance that I want to buy something NOW and maybe build it later ( ), where does one find a rack mount chassis like that?
Beautiful work, by the way.

Awesome!
Interesting nobody has questioned the three knobs....
Btw, shoot me an email with any results from your current archaelogical dig..... Sweet!
Happy Tgiving btw....

Hee thats THREE KNOBS!!!!
Awesome as usual and again I love these purple signature coax cables. Very cool.

Beautiful, Brandon! Is this a parallel Dumbleator? It seems like I've seen a "Dumbleator II" that's in parallel configuration....
I understand if not, but could you share a schematic? I'd love to see one, if so. I'd like to build a tube Dumbleator to compare to my recent Hi-V IC Klein-ulators....

Re: point to point D-lator build in hammond rack chassis
This one is the standard, mono, series loop, the "II" would indicate a mono input and a stereo output I believe. I don't think there were ever any parallel versions made, but I have only seen a couple examples of a II in person.
The chassis is made by hammond, and mouser sells them. Bud also makes a 1sp rack case.
I don't plan on making a kit, but I can get transformers if you need them.
I cut the board with a school type paper cutter, and did all the holes with my drill press. The big square holes I started with a step-bit, and finished with a hand nibbler. It is an easy project but a digital caliper is a must to get your holes in the right spot. I also used a super cool spring-loaded center punch I got at Harbor Freight tools to mark the chassis for drilling.
The third knob replaces the 220K to ground after the return jack in the original schematic, and acts as a return level control.
The 2 xicon caps are 47uf each, and the rectifier is a voltage doubler configuration: notice one tap of the HT is between the 2 1n4007's, and the other connects to the stand-by switch, and from there it is connected between the two 47uf caps.

I searched in the files section, and didn't find a schematic for a Dumbleator.
Did I miss it?

It is labeled as "loop" and it came from Schematic Heaven.

Brandon, KILLER job! I take it you use a INPUT drive pot used as a voltage divider? I`ve done that to mine,Funkalicousgroove wrote:http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=419

Nice work Funk,
Are you happy with your tube socket mounting technique? It looks like it won't cause any problems in the future, but maybe a small shock pad on the bottom of the rack may help support the tube.

It seems to me, with all that extra real estate in the box, that it's a shame the transformer hangs off the back. Have you tried putting it inside? If that creates more noise, it could be handled with some additional shielding.
Or maybe it just didn't fit inside?
