Trainwreck Express Head Cabinet step by step
Hi,
I've almost finished my build. I need to make a head cab.
I searched forum but did not find any "step by step" tutorial on how to make a wood cabinet. Is there any links you can propose me ?
Thanks a lot,
JP

Hi JP,
We would all be delighted to see the build photos and the learn some of the story on your Express... do you have a thread running on that?
The Wreck cloners of yesteryear put together some good documentation on how to build an ~authentic Wreck cabinet and posted it for us. I'll repost it for you... please send us a finished photo if you don't mind.
thanks,
rj

Looking forward to it.
Re: Trainwreck Express Head Cabinet step by step
One problem with the cab layout is the opening for the chassis. It shows 2" you have to have more than that for the wiggle room of a bottom plate etc.

Were the cabinet plans made from a actual Wreck? Or just a guess?
Re: Trainwreck Express Head Cabinet step by step
I worked with Matt Taylor on this and it was all done from photo's blown up to life size.
The drawing worked for a lot of people but it may not be a one size fits all.
Measure your chassis and see it the cab measurements will work for you.

I think it depends on what you use as a bottom plate, its thickness, and if you use cork or felt on the bottom of that.
If no cork and a thin bottom plate, the opening could be a hair shy of 2 1/4 maybe more like 2 1/8th or hit in between 2- 1/8th and 2-1/4.
As mentioned, depends on what you will be using as the bottom plate etc..

Re: Trainwreck Express Head Cabinet step by step
These were done using measurements off an actual Wreck cabinet supplied by an owner. As Ritchie mentioned, there might need to be a slightly larger opening in the front for the chassis, but the measurements I drew up reflect what I was given.

Hey guys!
Here is first layer(of 3) of finishing oil. I used Prato-Verde Secondo, from Québec, Canada.
How do you mount the aluminum chassis with the wood cab?
Thanks,
JP

1/4 inch thread machine screws, roughly 1.5 inches long, but I forget the length exactly.
