Jelle, Andy...ok, I guess I missed out on this one. What's the story here for those of us who didn't get the memo? Or doesn't it really matter?

Both guys started to build a wait list and take deposits for D-style amps and then vaporized with people's money. Quinn reputedly $ 50 to 100-K, not sure of the severity of Clark's scam. Both basically dropped off the radar, but Greg and his band are now on Facebook which might make reaching him (if you were scammed) easier. Guys like this can give the business a bad name.

Yes, I did see that.

I sent the following message to Reverb.com via chat:
'Jelle Welagen

Sep 22, 11:04 PM CDT

Hi, My name is mentioned in connection with a person who has taken advantage of a lot of people. It is in this ad on your website. https://reverb.com/item/3011382-funky-m ... aqua-suede. I would like to ask if you could please have my name removed, I am running a business in the USA and I cannot be associated with scammers. For more information, see; http://www.thegearpage.net/board/index. ... o.1179203/

I would appreciate if you could have my name removed. In addition, this is a misrepresentation of the Welagen brand.

Thank you, Jelle Welagen www.welagen.com'

Another problem is that the buyer is not getting what is advertised. It is a false ad.

Another issue is that the Funky Monk amp in the ad is not an Ultraphonix amp at all. Based on the guts, I do not see the UP mods that I have seen in Dumble modded Fenders with the UP sticker. Wrong circuit, wrong type of caps, wrong type of resistors.

Nothing here makes sense to me. I wonder of that Silverface Bassman that is being sold by the same seller was even done by Dumble, knowing that Greg was around. It is all so fishy.

...and Reverb did the right thing and removed my name from the listing. I have to say they are pretty responsive to issues like this, very good.

Jelle
There was a guy trying to sell a Weber Blue Dog alnico on eBay years ago as the "Scumback Scumnico prototype"...and he was asking more than I charged for a new Scumnico.

The guy knew I used silver frames (back then) for the alnicos, and his spiel was that Weber built a Scumnico in a blue frame for me to test. Of course it had no Scumback logo and he didn't mention how he got the prototype, since I kept all of those.

So I had to contact eBay, and they made him change his ad to what it really was.

So this isn't new stuff, Jelle, but it does show how good your amp skills must be for guys to illegally use your name/reputation to sell something.

I don't know what people think these days sometimes...and how they expect to get away with it.

Anyway, glad to see Reverb fixed it.
