Yeah, you never know when you're gonna get bitten. Yesterday I was powering up my 6V6 ODS for the first time to check power supply voltages. Plugged it into my lightbulb rig, threw the power switch, checked rectifier voltage...so far so good. Then I reached back to flip the standby and ZING!

(How fitting that we have a "shock" emoticon, eh.) Anyway, I had a bad standby switch. Internal short or something. You just never know when the amp is gonna bite you.
