That amp sounds real good with the volume up. I did not like the reverb at all.. Should have Glen demo it. He'd really make it sing.

I heard $3,000 including the speaker cab but I haven't verified that at all as I'm not in the market for one.

If that's correct then it's a good price for a high quality build and 2x12 speaker cab including a Celestion Gold and Blue.

The Z webisight says 3900 for head and cab......
Not "cheap", but you at least know the builder is capable and has a pretty impressive build record.

3900 ain't that much when you look other prices around.....

amp sounds ok,reverb fails(but I usually don't like reverbs)......
I think there's a some kind of hype around the amp more cuz of name than it's sound....

The Z-price sheet states $3699 for head and matching cabinet. The 212 open back Stang cabinet costs $699 with two blues so that makes this head at $3000 mark. So not all that bad as originally it was slated to be at the $4200 mark.

NO slight on Mike Zaite, but I wonder if the family is compensated for use of the design and/or trademark ? I assume so (Mike's a good guy), but wondering aloud here... Nice sounding amp. Maybe part of the price heft is a family commission ?

Not bad at $3699? I wish I had your money! Even if it sounded as good as an Express I still don't think I'd buy it. I've got 3 home brew amps that sound even better (to me) at a cost of not more than 500.00 each - not including speakers.

Having said that, If I were to build another head and it came out sounding like the Z Wreck, I would consider it as a keeper. And no doubt it would cost less than 500.00.

The guys buying these amps are stout followers of the Z line and yes eventually these amps will be in sale pages like all the rest of the amps that have come and gone.

I build my own too bigbeck, lots of them :)

my rule is pretty much any amp over $2500 can be built for ~$800-1000 with actual parts.

If the amp can be purchased used for less then $800 i.e fender bandmaster, bassman, showman, ...... don't bother building it yourself. Keep the value of having an authentic and put a couple bucks in and spruce it up.

My only issue with clones is they are a labor of love and not an investment, because all to often the value is less then the cost of the parts it takes to build one. not counting the labor it took to create.

everything changes hands at some point it might not be your hands that lets something go but someone will. you just have to keep an open eye.
I would estimate the used value of the Z wreck with cab in excellent condition to be around $2700. and down as low as $1700 after a hard tour. Still i like this amp more then the RI's
