That Bob Altman guitar is the best sounding acoustic I have ever heard. It is radially braced and has a very thin top. It is very loud for it's size and the tone is to die for. It isn't lacking in the bass like more guitars of this size. It's action plays like butter. It is one of the sister guitars to Norman Blake's guitar, but it sounds a zillion times better. The harmonic richness of the guitar is unsurpassed. It was in my hands for a while, but is now owned by MJ07. He's selling almost all of his gear due to financial reasons. If I had the cash I would get it in a heartbeat. It is to acoustic guitars what the 183 was to dumble amps. Simply badass.

Me too, can't wait. I just saw Carlton last month..stratcat62 wrote:I'm going to see Robben Ford with Renegade Creation in late November. I'll be interested to see if he has the Dumble or the Two-Rock.
Re: Robben playing a Two Rock?!
Thats killer! Ford at his best playing and tone wise for my taste. I still wonder if thats HRM. Now in this clip, my Emerald Pro with my Tele and into my Mesa 4/12 is totally nailing that tone. My Artist (Non HRM) is not quite right. The Emerald Pro is downright SICK! You have to try this thing some time. Maybe I will drag it to another amp show one day.pinner wrote:Your welcome. I've seen Ford a bunch of times, he's from my home town Ukiah. I saw Renegade Creation a few months ago and they were fantastic. Landau is a hell of a player. Of course Haslip and Novak are impressive as well.

Re: Blutos & Two Rocks.... Robben tells me HAS used them briefly in the last year as a convenience only. They were provided for him for select gigs and, tho they are nice amps, he says he does not own them, does not want anyone thinking he endorses them, or in anyway will be replacing his Dumbles with them. "It just won't happen. I have NO desire what-so-ever to play thru anything but my Dumbles whenever possible." he said with a roll of the eyes. "I love my Dumbles and they are here to stay".

Re: Robben playing a Two Rock?!
I was doing some research on the Two-Rock TS-1 and came across this old thread. Thanks to whoever posted those two videos of Robben playing through his TS-1. I thought the tone was amazing!!!Guitarman18 wrote:Thanks for posting Larsmuller,
To my ears, I think it sounds too stiff and buzzy, compared to his regular clips. It also seems to be giving him trouble with his playing! He doesn't seem as relaxed as usual.
Cheers,
Paul.
I thought I would post in regards to the comment that RF doesn't seem to comfortable or relaxed playing his TS-1. In actual fact he is VERY uncomfortable (obvious to see) but it has NOTHING to do with the amp. He is uncomfortable because he is being filmed (videod) and we all know how much he hates being filmed or having his picture taken. I will fill you in for those not familiar with these clips. They were originally posted on The Gear Page as Robben Ford meltdown clips. The brother of a Gear Page member was at this concert (first time seeing Ford) and had no idea that fliming him during a show was such a taboo act. If you look closely at one of the videos (I believe the first one) you can see RF wave his arm for no apparent reason. He is trying to wave off the guy that's filiming. Both these videos have been editied so they don't show the aftermath, but right about where the first one ends, both Ford and his brother (harp player) go ballistic on the poor guy doing the filming and threaten to walk off the stage if the filming doesn't stop. It's quite the meltdown actually. Most know not to film Ford. Obviously this guy didn't. Nice to see some footage of the Two-Rock TS-1, but this video was originally posted for other reasons. Nice to see it's been edited.
Just thought I would clarify.

Re: Robben playing a Two Rock?!
Yeah, I've heard he has problems with flashes but didn't know about just taking video or a still picture without flash.
What, is he worried he won't get paid for the picture?
Talking about Two Rock and how the Premier Builders Guild bought them out.
Pretty smart of those guys to sell out before the Dumble fad dies down.
I saw a video of Bill talking, he acts like they all invented these amps.
I don't think they have an original circuit in their lineup.
But to act like they designed these amps is pretty is a laugh.
I wonder what PBG paid for TR, they should send a check to Howard.
This is a quote from Bill Krinard:
"My philosophy is to make the amp sound like the guitar. If you plug in a 1956 Strat and then a 1961 Strat, I want you to hear and feel the difference. The struggle to accomplish that is my bliss."
Working with great artists has helped Bill to develop the unique Two Rock voice
What a joke....

Re: Robben playing a Two Rock?!
I have seen him act like that a few times over the years. Really has a problem with it for some reason. I can certainly understand the getting blinded by the flash reason for not wanting you picture taken, but I don't understand the without a flash or in this case a video camera reason. His actions is this video mirror his actions at Jazzbones In Tacoma Washington a few years ago. Couldn't figure out what he was doing (I was at the show) as he turned his back on the audience and went to the very back of the stage to play. Wasn't until one of the stage crew saw a guy in the front row with a camera before everyone realized why Robben was acting like that. Needless to say the guy stopped taking pictures. Talked to Two-Rock today as a matter of fact. Or might I say what's left of them. Joe no longer is with the company and doesn't come in anymore and Bill is only there a a design consultant. The amps are still getting built by the same "team" that has built them for the past couple of years, but getting a hand built Bill Kinnard amp these days is pretty much next to impossible from what I understand. Mac Skinner is on the build team and builds a pretty decent amp from what I understand. Interesting changes to say the least.

Re: Robben playing a Two Rock?!
Is the Dumble thing on it's way out ?? And if it is then I guess some will miss out on the fantastic tone that is DUMBLE! Guys, Robben is in no way playing a TS1. I believe "his" TS1 was sold to a third party.
Just clarifying.

I'm assuming you mean RF is not playing a TS-1 currently? You agree that is certainly a Two-Rock (most likely the TS-1) in those videos though? Correct? According to Two-Rock RF's TS-1 is stored at Two-Rock for his use (as amatter of concenience) when he is on the West Coast. Got that information from Two-Rock two days ago. Just trying to clarify as well.

Re: Robben playing a Two Rock?!
It is the TS1 in the videos. And the amp is no longer being stored.
RF told me and others that he would always just play his Dumble and this may have contributed to the new development.
As far as I know, the TS1 was sold to a thrid party.
