Noob question about a pre-amp socket center shield

Post by T-diddy »

Hi Im just wondering what to do with the center shield on my 9 pin tube sockets. Can I ignore it? Should I use them? Should I pull them out? If I need to use the Center shield, how do I use them......Im guessing they get tied to ground somehow.
Thanks in advance.

I've only ever seen the centre shield tied to ground once, ever. It was on a croc-skin Selmer T&B mkI head.

You can ignore the centre shield on a 9-pin socket, or tie it to ground for a convenient spot to hook up the shield on shielded wire runs to the grids.

no problem, we're all here to exchange information and talk amps (hopefully, I've just got here myself)
