6bq6gtb - someone has schematics using this tube ?

Post by Kagliostro »

I can get some 6bq6gtb tube

and I'm looking for schematics that use it

http://www.nj7p.org/Tube4.php?tube=6BQ6GTB

I've read that a couple can push near 40W but didn't find schematics

can you give me help ?

Thanks

Check here:http://cathodefollower.livejournal.com/

About halfway down is a description and schematic of a monoblock built using these. A place to start anyway.

Where are you getting 40W from? I haven't used the 6BQ6 in anything but I was under the impression that they were much closer to a 6V6 (11W plates for 6BQ6 vs. 12W plates for 6V6). This is like how a 6BG6 is close to a 6L6 with a plate cap, just applied to a 6V6 format. I'd use these in amps because there is lots of NOS still available for cheap but I have enough good NOS 6V6 pairs to keep any Deluxe/Princeton fan happy.

one friend told me that 6bq6gtb can be pushed hardly (not 6bq6)

plate 350v

screen 150v (stabilized)

set to 35ma

OT load 4.4Kohm

will result in near 37W of power for a PP of two tubes

Maybe so. Usually when heaters on oddball tubes draw significantly more current than the audio standard tubes then they can handle more power. As far as I can tell the 6BQ6 can handle more plate current/voltage and has a higher transconductance which means it takes less signal to get the same power out as a 6V6. This is an interesting tube, I might look into using some in an amp someday.

This will help. Found it at Duncan's TDSL under the substitute 6CU6.
Looks like it does pass better than twice as much current as a 6L6 under the same 250V Va and 150V Vg2 condition, but max Pa is only 11W.

From the plate curves on the data sheet above I think 300V would be the max on the plate with 150V Vg2 and a 4k a-a load (hits 200% Pa max on the load line). With that as the design point, I get 28W from a p-p pair.

Thanks for the info

my friend told me that he must look for a schematic he think to have (those with the 350v B+), but this aren't the right days, he is in the middle of moving from a house to another
