While speaking about inputs, why do the input layouts for #124 and #102 differ from #183 , 2nd and 3rd generation, in the fact that the former 2 don't have a separate wire running to the preamp chassis ground?

I'm finishing up a 183 style and it has a ground from the NOR input on the layout just wondering?

I do have ground wires on the ring of both jacks so essentially I am right back to the 3rd gen jack layout. I am using a 183 design board right now and it has a ground wire to it also.

I think my original issue had something to to with my 3rd gen FET board and the jack confusion was brought into the process of it. There's no ground to the FET board on the 2nd/3rd gen layout but is on all the others. I am pretty sure there should a ground there to the trimmer. This may have been my issue with high FET voltages in the first place. I'm going to try it again with the ground in place.

Yep. What I meant is ground from the FET board is on that schematic but missing from the layouts for 2nd/3rd gen. I was cross-referencing both as I went but missed it at first.

Look at the connections carefully, especially the short little jumper on the FET jack on the right side.

does this "short little jumper" apply to the 183 layout also?

It should be the same for all of them.
Bear in mind that Dumble used the Kobiconn jack, not the Switchcraft shown on the layouts.

Tom is right..Keep in mind if you use the switchcraft jacks for fet you need to isolate it from chassis ground w/isolation washers..You can also use the crappy plastic marshall style jacks there as well..I believe the Ceriatone layouts show you how to wire these up if you want to go there..

Uh oh, I wasn't aware of that Tony.

Why would the FET jack be isolated when it is grounded right to the normal jack?
I think I wired mine like the #124 layout shows.

Mine seems to work ok, although I am currently having a intermittent on the FET jack which I believe is the switches on the jack that need to be tweaked.

Did you isolate the FET jack?

I will check local hardware store for some sort of iso washer
or may order the
Kobiconn jack from Mouser I think this is the one

BTW it seems the jacks are scheduled for end of life at Mouser
