Judging from Rheingold's posts, something about this "I know Ken Fischer from way back" stuff is not adding up.

For example, the claims that Ken Fischer's contact information has not changed since the 1980's and that Fischer's phone number still works are not true. The advertised telephone number is disconnected, as other people note. While there are still ways to get in touch with Mr. Fischer, the old information has changed.

Of Rheingold's limited posts as a member, one suggests the members here do not know the basics of tube circuitry. Yet another post asks what the bleeder resistor in the B+ rail is for. Methinks anyone who knows Ken Fischer personally could simply ask Fischer such a simple question about a resistor in the power supply. In addition, anyone who knows the basics of tube circuitry could figure out what a bleeder resistor is for.

Another one of the posts specifically identifies the requisite wattage and value of power supply resistors, information which is not on all of the schematics available on-line. Is not this specific disclosure exactly contrary to the stance of not giving away Ken Fischer circuit information and/or secrets?

The remainder of Rheingold's posts are criticisms of Trainwreck builders and homebrewers, most of which are in this thread.

It is possible Rheingold is a friend of Mr. Fischer. If the story added up, I would be willing to give Rheingold the benefit of the doubt. I am still willing to give him the benefit of the doubt if he would be so kind as to add some reliable information to back up the claims in this thread. However, some of Rheingold's comments about Fischer's stance on pics, schematics and copies is contrary to what Fischer has told several other people and real Trainwreck owners. The story is not adding up.

Rheingold, if your story is true, your manner of making a point and broadly over-stating Fischer's position was still inflammatory and full of enough inaccuracies to bait an argument here. Spouting false statements and attributing them to Fischer is more disrespectful of him than any amount of Internet pics of Hogy's Komet (do not forget Hogy had a role in this amp as well). Rheingold, if you are truly Mr. Fischer's friend, I am hoping you will apologize here and to Mr. Fischer for the unfounded statements you are attributing to him or at least provide some foundation for what you are claiming are Fischer's words. If your story is false (as many suspect), I venture to say I am one of the many who will not miss you when you are gone.

For the record, KF's area code has definately changed since the 80's and THAT is most likely where the confusion is. I had started to post the correct area code BUT then thought better of it. I wouldn't want my number posted on the net but that's me. Or maybe KF would rather have his number posted than pics of his amp.

I would think KF would be more concerned with pics of the Komet than the Express.

Also I know of at least two people that claim to have Komet schems (They won't give them up). I would be more concerned with that getting released. As has been said regarding the Express "The horse has left the barn" Along time ago I might add

Hi all, Since it was the pictures that I personally took, I feel that I can chime in here.

I will go against the grain of many here but here goes:

1. Once you sell something...it is not yours! Can GM sue a hot rodder for taking pictures of his new car and posting them on a car forum? Of course not! Even the pics of the engine!

2. KF does not build Trainwrecks anymore. This is the stupid mystique that anal know-it-alls like to pull. ie. I have a schematic and you cant have it Nhah-Nhah!

3. We will not and cannot ever have KF build us one for money. KF DID NOT invent the tube or the amplifier! These circuits are not original or difficult to make.

4. This is a forum that is built around the Trainwreck amplifier...That makes us his fan club of sorts. We are the priests of this goofy Trainwreck religion some people have built here. We further the "legend" of the Trainwreck more than any commercial venture.

I posted some time ago here that if I ever get a pic of a Trainwreck I will share it with the people here who have in the past, shared with me and many others. No one seemed to have a problem with that statement as long as I didn't really posess the pics. I now do and share freely with the people here pics of an amp we respect and want to build. So again....Rheinhold ...I must say...."your a dick".

Sorry for the rant and mean no disrespect to KF. KF is not here to have his say, so in the meanwhile, Rheinhold.....screw!

Allynmey that statement is the best way to sum up all that's been said here,And I agree 110%.And as I said before thanks for the pics,to Omar,and to all here who dedicate to this forum and the badass amp that most of us care about to take time to make schems, post pics, and help guy's like me build one. -These amps are 20+ years old!
-They are NOT made anymore!
-No one sells them anymore!
-It is NOT breakthrough technology!
-We here are interested in a personal "self" build because we like the sound and CANNOT get one! Regardless of price! The Komet (commercially available) is NOT a TW Express!
-No one STOLE the pics. The OWNER let us take the pics. Once again...THE OWNER...yes the one who PAID FOR AND OWNS the amp!

I believe the legend status came to KF from the clientel and word of mouth from the people in the know in the biz. KF's first amp was not submitted for sainthood We here seem to propagate this mystique about somebodys "magic fingers" and how he sprinkled "moon dust" that made the amp special.

Come on.

Well "sport", I've reviewed your posts. We joined the forum the same week. I ask...what have you contributed to this forum besides name dropping and sarcasm?

To answer another assertion of yours,...I own a medium sized computer corporation. We are considered the top "boutique" designer and builder in our area. I have been in business for 12 years and have developed many processes and tools that put us ahead in the business. When other professional builders and customers ask me to share some of my techniques, I say sure! I realize that I didn't invent the first computer and that my name, ability, and reputation give me my customer base and not some silly mystique. My computers sit in many locations including recording studios, television stations, even MIT and Homeland Defense office at the WH. That's what I've been doing...sport!

Obviously most of you here havent been in business for yourself or at least been involved in a ground breaking endeavour.

Hey smartass (rocket) Screw you and anybody else who has a problem with me or anyone that want's to build an amp that is no longer in production. I myself don't post here much,but I sure wouldn't get on everyone's case who post pic's of an amp someone paid for and that's 20+ years old. BTW I know there's no 110% I was showing my support for something I believe in. I'll try and not post about this subject any more.
