Hiwatt Chassis...
I would like to build a Hiwatt 504 circuit... Does anyone know of a source for a punched chassis? I would rather buy one then punch my own on this build..

Re: Hiwatt Chassis...
VHR stopped selling chassis
Ceriatone.com
Weber Hiwatt kit no separate chassis available
Parts http://shop.hi-tone-amps.com/Vintage-HT ... ons_c4.htm
Not sure if Allynmey still has any chassis left.

Re: Hiwatt Chassis...
Thanks for That....... I sent VHR an email a few days ago and had not received a response as of yet.. I will probably go with Ceriatone.. I am trying to avoid the higher shipping cost... I might still punch my own.. The only thing holding me back was needing a greenlee punch for the cap can hole size.. So I might turn the ceriatone shipping cost into a new punch purchase..

Re: Hiwatt Chassis...
I punch the can cap holes the same size as the octal tube socket holes but I do have larger Greeenlee punches. Watch those punches because they are sized for conduit OD size and have nothing to do with actual size. Example 3/4" is larger then 3/4" so you end up with too large a hole to put a 3/4" noval tube socket in.
I use industrial metric punches for tube sockets and cap holes.

Thanks Mark..... I use carbide hole saws for the noval and octal holes... I am glad you mentioned that about the Greenlee punches.I was not aware of that.. I am trying to get away from using the hole saws.. while they do a nice job it's not a super looking job.. What are these Industrial metric punches you speak of? What is the process where do you purchase?
Thanks Greg

Re: Hiwatt Chassis...
One big note with the Ceriatone chassis, it is not the same spec as a real Hiwatt chassis, it's a bit smaller. Thus, faceplates and cab would need to be Ceriatone sized/spec.
Eardrums!!! We don't need no stinkin' eardrums!
Re: Hiwatt Chassis...
Well there just punches but I ordered from industrial suppliers by googling.
See photo L to R 18.6mm for Belton noval, 22mm for ceramic novals, 30mm for Belton octal and Greenlee set for everything else.

Re: Hiwatt Chassis...
What Mark is really saying is watch out for "conduit" sized punches as they are oversized. But Greenlee does make actual sized punches as well where the 3/4 inch really punches a 3/4 hole. I have 3 of those and they work great. Just punched two chassis with those.
Also ask Mark about DDwag chassis if you're gonna punch your own. Nice work and the price is right...

In theory, theory is the same as practice. In practice it's different.

Re: Hiwatt Chassis...
Yup I have a stack of Ddawg chassis waiting to be made into amps.
I used a 17x8x2 chassis with a rack faceplate for my Dumblelator.
Ddawg will make to any size you want for custom applications.
