New Marshall day: with gut shots now that this moron forgot

Post by TNblueshawk »

First, I've mostly been a lurker here for a year or so but I wanted to thank this forum for its wealth of info. I've read many a thread trying to learn. This is my second amp build. Time to plan a third.

Anyway, I thought I'd post a finished build so you guys don't think I'm a troll or something :)

I'm not much of a traditionlist if you will. Just wing it in my mind and go.

Pine cabs, Tone Tubby's (12" alnico and 10" ceramic) in parallel. Made several mistakes that I hope to correct next time but I guess that is what learning is.

I think I'll ditch the logo as most I've talked with think it looks better without it. Thoughts on keeping or ditching the logo?

Thanks Nick. Yep, P90's. I had a guy wind them out of Tampa for me. Does great work. That is a Tele I put together over a year ago. I might also say that might have been the first and last nitro job I ever do. I about needed new rotator cuff's when I got done. Another labor of love. Beats working though!

Everything in your photos is beautiful: the amp cabinet, the room, the carpet (!), the component drawers! Are you a Virgo?

The head looks great with the logo, but get your own logo on there, not Marshall's.

And the only photos that are missing are the gut shots, which is where you'll really draw the most interest here...on the gut building channel.

Cheers!

Thanks Bob. I've had one hour with her and I love it. I was able to play it much too loud 8) but my ears didn't bleed. Nice break up. I'll have to bond more as time goes on.

 I can't believe I didn't have those in there. My bad. See I told you I'm new here. I know this from the pedal world. We call them rehoused Behringer's without gut shots.

Very nice! Love that rich, dark woody look you got going on!

What circuit do you have in there? I couldn't take the time to trace it out by eye unfortunately.

Congratulations and enjoy the build!!!

Thank you sir. I used the straight up no mods 18w circuit from Tube Depot. I'm too new in the game to do it alone if you will so I got an assist from them https://www.tubedepot.com/products/clas ... 1x12-combo

You sure aren't with the handle contrary. None of that now, you'll have to put it right. :D

Unless your first or last name (or both!) is Marshall I'd drop the logo.

Nice build, does it rawk?

RP, it does rawk indeed. I need some time with it to find just how I like it. I'm stuck in the bedroom hacking away so I need to find that spot that my ears can handle yet get a good sweet sound.

I've re-read your first sentence and I'm lost on what you were saying. Sorry  It is Fri afternoon and I'm on my last few brain cells but could you elaborate.

Agree totally, I'm ditching the logo. Probably just leave it blank although I could come up with something in the way of a name.

^^^ The head cab handle is atypical, not traditional.

Typically used in stompbox fabs to avoid shorting out against the back of the pots.
