G'day
Hey guys finally got on here. Back story is I'm a full time uni student atm with a disabled partner and 1.95 daughters. Desperately in need of a new amp as my roland went out in a blaze of fiery fury. I spent the last two years building high powered lighting systems for work so I've got good building skills but little understanding of how an amp works. A builder that I met on another forum convinced me I could build an amp for far less then I could buy what I needed, which is a mid wattage plexi style thing. I had some tube and things lying around and he offered to design and build a turret around what I had, I gave him money and he screwed me over. Heart breaking, as I just got a gig playing for a local blues band and had no amp, I had to pull out of my first paying band in years.
I found the huss 6v6 plexi cuircit online and saw that a lot of parts matched with what I had so I ordered the caps and resistors and built the board as shown on his website.
Basically to finish it I really need a layout showing how the turret board connects to the pt ot choke capcan pots and so on, so I can finish it and take it to an amp tech for inspection/testing. I can't afford to pay an amp tech to finish the build for me unfortunately.
I really had no plans to build an amp, it's been far to big of a drama for me, I'd rather just build a few pedals but im in a situation where I really need to get this done with what I have.
Thanks guys.

Yup. Put your location in your profile, and there just might be someone local enough. Hell, I build for my buddies for almost nothing. I'd bet someone in your area might give it a go!

Hendrix1983, why don't you post your project on AGGH. There are a few active builders in your area that I'm sure would be happy to look over your work.

What would it cost to ship it (without TXs) to the states and back?

Try looking at this building guide:
www.metroamp.com/downloads/50_WATT_KIT_INSTRUCTIONS.pdf
And the several Plexi layout variants here:
http://ceriatone.com/productSubPages/BS ... 0_Docs.htm
to get a general idea of how plexi-style amps go together.
What kind of chassis and iron are you going to be using?

Hendrix1983 - how far are you located from Sydney? I know there are a few people who post from there.
At this point do you have a chassis? What other hardware do you have - brands, etc? Like input jacks, power and standby switches, transformers, choke so we can help w/wiring codes (well choke doesn't really matter). Looks like you are set up for split cathodes for the V1 preamp tube. Also are you shooting for a standard 4-hole, 6-knob plexi panel, or are you incorporating any type of master volume and internally jumpered channels or cascading?

Re: HUSS 6v6 layout
If you put that thing in a chassis and take some pics I'm sure we could tell!you which wire goes where.isn't the layout structo posted correct should be easy enough to follow.
Or you could buy me a ticket to oz.

Re: G'day
What configuration are you using for the filters? Two cap cans or something else? I can easily drop that board into a 1987 layout drawing and hook it up. If you can wire it you can get it working yourself with a bit of help from the folks here.hendrix1983 wrote:Basically to finish it I really need a layout showing how the turret board connects to the pt ot choke capcan pots and so on, so I can finish it and take it to an amp tech for inspection/testing. Re: HUSS 6v6 layout
The transformer and filter wiring is easy. I think the hard part to believe in is how the board connections are labled.
