Deep switch question
I've been playing around with my friend's Ceriatone HRM 100 for a few weeks now and had a question about the affect of the deep switch. Background: I play a Strat - rosewood board, Lollar Special S pickups - which I happen to be loving with this amp. My question is about what the deep switch is doing. When I engage it (up), it seems to kind of CUT the low end, almost enhancing the clarity overall. On the overdrive side, it makes things much more 'singy' and midrange-y. There is substantially more low end and bandwith overall, it seems, with the deep switch OFF. Isn't that backward? I love the way this amp is performing. I just had an interest as this is the opposite of how I understood the deep switch to work before I got the amp. I definitely prefer this amp with the deep switch engaged.
I attached an mp3 below. iPhone voice recorder, so really not the quality it should be. But you can hear what I'm talking about enough to get a feel for it. Any insight is appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: Deep switch question
Mine gets darker, more scooped and boomier when engaged. Could the Ceriatone be wired backwards?

Re: Deep switch question
Yeah, it sounds like it is wired backwards. Does that amp have sliders switches or toggles? I looked at the Ceriatone layout and the switches are wired upside down of the deep switch for the Low Plate Classic on this forum.

Re: Deep switch question
My Ceriatone BM HRM 100w does the same thing deep is in off position.

@Moderator,
I had already started a topic about deep switch wiring discrepancies; perhaps this topic should be merged with it to keep the information in one place?
@all,
Yes, the deep switch for a Ceriatone OTS does seem to be wired backwards, but what does it really matter?
Also, isn't 'down' the engaged or 'on' position for the bright cap? If so, seems like the 'deep' should operate similarly. My 2p.

Re: Deep switch question
I suspect that Ceriatone used the wiring for slider switches which are the opposite of toggle switches as a guide for their layout. If this is the case, they should have corrected that as most people are using toggles. Below is a photo of how HAD did it. I just noticed that the 270k resistor coming off my deep switch is going to the wrong terminal on the Jazz/Rock switch as is the one is on Tony's LPC layout. This doesn't matter unless you engage the deep and Jazz at the same time.

Re: Deep switch question
Sure makes sense to have the resistor that goes to ground closer to the bus bar; same thing with the cap on the J/R switch.
Re: Deep switch question
On these miniature switches you use the lugs that are opposite of the direction the toggle bat swings and whether tubes up or tubes down.
Remember that when soldering and you will wire the switches correctly every time. Of course with these Dumble circuits there is a lot more going on.

These are Dumbles I have been inside. If I say anymore, I will catch some bad karma.

No worries. I have not had any rocks(or stale doughnuts) thrown through my window because of the Tweedle Dee expose but I don't want to push my luck.

Nice pic Charlie, thanks.
It looks like the cap value is .047uf on Rock/Jazz switch?
Thanks,
Aaron
