Been Asked Before, Repeatedly!
I'm really trying to find a drawing program for schematics to use on my Mac. Layouts would be nice also, but not as critical.
Yes, I've been pointed to several that are for PC's and then suggestions for "virtual machines" to run it on my Mac. I've attempted several options and get nothing but problems, glitches, etc! I use my Mac for multi-track music recording and it seems that whenever I "INFECT" my poor Mac with any virtual stuff, the resources hogged in the background causes problems.
There must be some simple solution without spending a pile of $$$ on a program/application with advanced features that I will not likely need or use! Also, I am not a computer whizz by any means and use it as a tool and have little desire or ambition to dig in and become an expert just to make some simple drawings.
Any & all help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Gene

Re: Been Asked Before, Repeatedly!
Ahhh yes sluckey,
I'd love to use that, but after repeated attempts I get message that tell me me it is damaged and that I should move it to the trash! The first time I tried today, I was told I needed to update/install JAVA, so I did, now everytime I download jschem and try open it I get the damaged message. I went down this road a few months back and after wasting several non-successful hours, gave up. WTF! It shouldn't be this difficult!
Thanks,
Gene

You're in Mac hell. I feel for ya. The belief that Macs are somehow better isn't true any more. If you had a PC you'd being getting something done. Sorry, I understand that it's not helping.

I guess cross platform Java is not fool proof. Jschem works fine on my PC but I don't much care for it.
Re: Been Asked Before, Repeatedly!
I think there is a version of DIYLC that works on OSX

JSchem doesn't work with recent versions of MacOSX

FWIW Ballz, I use a great drawing app for Mac called EazyDraw. There is a license and it may be more than you want or need, but it is a killer app.

Get Parallels Desktop for Mac, and you can run Windows and any Windows software you need.
The two platforms, Windows and Mac OS, are indeed close to parity in terms of functions, but Windows still blows.

Yep,
DIYLC tells you on it's website that
"IMPORTANT: in order for the app to work you must enable 3rd party apps on your mac. If you do not, the app will be reported as damaged."
but, of course it doesn't tell us what "3rd party apps" these are!
What a pain in the arse! I have no intention of buying a new computer just to make a drawing, not to mention, Windows 8 is an absolute travesty that appears guide you down a deep dark hole of having all kinds of crap loaded and running in the background to slow your computer to the point where you need to buy a new one. Almost impossible to find stuff and how to turn things on & off without being an expert! I just want to draw some circles, triangles, squares and lines for GAWD'S sake!
My Rant Could Go On Forever!

Unfortunately "PARALLELS" opens up the MacOS to all the same crap that Windows is susceptible to!xtian wrote:Get Parallels Desktop for Mac, and you can run Windows and any Windows software you need.

"The only time Microsoft will ever make anything that doesn't suck, will be the day they start making vacuum cleaners!"
And yeah, last year I tried EasyDraw and don't remember what issues I had, but there were definitely some. Maybe they have updated a bit and I should try again. It is just so frustrating jumping through the same hoops for hours/days just to still get no satisfaction!

I use Sun's Virtual Box (free) running Windows 95 for things like Duncan's TSC and a few other PC only utilities.

He's apparently more interested in spouting tired Apple fanboi drivel and parade of horribles fiction about Windows 8 than he is in getting anything done.vibratoking wrote:You're in Mac hell. Re: Been Asked Before, Repeatedly!
No, that is not correct. Your Windows installation is at risk but not the Mac OS. It's easy to have it sandboxed, if you're especially paranoid. The Ballzz wrote:Unfortunately "PARALLELS" opens up the MacOS to all the same crap that Windows is susceptible to!

Keep in mind DIYLC doesn't do schematics that I know of. Don't chase your tail there.
