ODS output transformer

Post by phillyhudson »

hi all - anyone have an opinion on the following OT question ?

I'm using some basler trannies from a 100w peavey deuce [474v@30mA] , for a 102/183 type ODS but the OT only has 4ohm output , I have a 1x12 cab with a 16ohm G12-65 - everything I do I gets miced up so not really at risk of blowing it , I was thinking about replacing the OT with one of the following I could get in UK for about £100 - either a hammond twin replacement 1760w [2k primary] , or modulus 100w marshall replacement [1.75k primary]

any thoughts ?

What power tubes do you plan to use? (102 uses 6L6 and 183 uses EL34)

thanks for tubetown suggestion but that'd double the price , and I have to buy a new set of valves for the amp anyway so 6L6 or EL34 fine

that TT OT has 2200ohm so it's ok for 6L6 , for EL34 you need 1700/at least 1900ohm primary.

I use Heyboer irons, great TONE!!

113,45 € is the double of £100?

Another option is this Twin OT: https://www.tubetown.net/ttstore/en/tt- ... 6-ohm.html (90,76 €)

2k2 is good for 6l6s and el34s
