Seventeen years ago, I extensively modded my old Carvin Vintage 16 by following the Hasse V16 mod schedule. Six years ago, I rebuilt the amp into a new chassis and cabinet while also adding some of my own ideas. It's those "my own ideas" that I would like to discuss. I'm also posting three schematics: Carvin Vintage 16, Hasse V16 mod, and the current version which also I've renamed as the Caramba.
Question 1: The current filtering is almost identical to the original. Would softening the filtering at any of the four nodes provide some interesting results?
Question 2: Reverb circuit's V2.a: Plate resistor is 220K. What would change, and is it safe to, if experimenting with smaller values?
Question 3: At the phase inverter V3.b, there is a cap connecting pin 6 anode to pin 7 grid. Originally a 27pf, and now it's a 47pf. Is this to enhance stability, or filter out high frequencies?
Question 4: I replaced the Hasse mod of adding a Raw control and reconfigured the wiring and increased the original 25k Mid pot value to 250K in an attempt to combine control of the mids and bypassing the tonestack circuit with one control pot. It definitely works, but should I think about refining this a bit further?
