2026 Monkeymatic Black Butte - KiCad OnShape PCBway ChatGPT

My first order of PCBs arrived from JLCPCB in about five business days! Must wait another week or so for the chassis to arrive.

Success! Uh, almost. Had to add jumpers in two places to address my omissions. Other than that, the chassis is great, and the tone is just like all my other Black Butte builds.

With 245v anode and 7.28v cathode and 150R cathode resistor, I'm getting 49mA thru my EL84, and 4.5 watts clean output power into 8ohm load, drawing 25watts from wall.

Although my anode is 245v, my screen is 255v! Why? B+ goes thru 1K dropping resistor and 100R screen resistor. So how can it be higher than plate voltage?

This is a very neat build!

I don't think this is exactly the same SMPS I've been using but it must be similar- I get about 280v on the high voltage. A little less with the 6.3v portion lightly loaded or a little more with it heavily loaded. I had a pair of 6550 heaters loading mine down in a test rig. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D9VCYBLB

I'm not sure how your screen is higher than your plate other than the simple error stuff you would have already ruled out like using a different ground reference.
