So ten years later and I still periodically revisit Bowie’s Blackstar - and it sticks in my head for about a month. Just dug out of 28 inches of snow with the whole album playing in my head all week.

Always was a fan of his - but this one continues to haunt me…

These days I am FOH mixer for a church in Brooklyn NY, and a sax player named Donny McCaslin drops in every now and then with his horn to join the band - his wife is an Associate Pastor here. He and his cohort were the band on Blackstar and he is a fine, fine, player with tons of soul and chops. What a treat it is to put a mic in front of him every now and then.

That album continues to get me right in the gut every time. An amazing swan song.

Ten years ago I was a little disappointed that Bowie didn’t use his usual band - but over time and learning about the absolute top notch jazz improv musicians that he worked with during that time - I’ve got a lot more appreciation for the whole album and its musicianship.

Hearing one of those folks in person must be a real treat; I’m a little jelly… lol.

Ok this band has me hooked. Some of the coolest weirdest math rock semi tonal music I've ever heard. Just love it.

Dude has some cool videos. He even has a cool Pantera cover.

Early brewers were primarily women, mostly because it was deemed a woman's job. Mesopotamian men, of some 3,800 years ago, were obviously complete assclowns and had yet to realize the pleasure of brewing beer.

And now for something completely different.

Early brewers were primarily women, mostly because it was deemed a woman's job. Mesopotamian men, of some 3,800 years ago, were obviously complete assclowns and had yet to realize the pleasure of brewing beer.

When Peter Gabriel left Genesis, their search for a new singer was not going that well. So in the interim they recorded this song with Phil Collins singing (and also playing drums). It turned out so good that it was decided to make Phil the singer...even tho he didn't really want to do it.
