Blackvibe layout

Post by Bretly »

Just wondering if there are any perceived issues here around my tube, transformer and board layout before I punch more holes.

I’m using a blackface bassman blank and using a super reverb chassis for somewhat of a template. Here I’ve moved the rectifier and power tubes to the right and also moved the OT an inch and a 1/4 to the right to keep the b+ runs down and prevent some wires from crossing and hoping to keep my fuse and power switch all left of the rectifier.

Big tubes are 2.5 center to center.
All about an inch from any transformer.
OT to PI tube is 3 inches apart
PI to preamp is 3 inches center to center.

Long grid wire runs from the plates of the PI tube to the outputs are an invite to having oscillating problems.

What you want in any layout of parts is the smallest length of grid wire possible.

To this end it’s best for example to have long plate wires from the PI tube with the coupling caps right on pin 5 of each output tube even though output tubes do not have much gain.

Following this good build trend you should see why it’s even more important not only for bypassing oscillating issues, but also tone wise to have minimal grid wire length in the preamp and tone stack section.

From what you are saying I’m not far off then. Simply moving my board to the right snug against the corner will put each tube directly below where the will run too.

I am a beginner so please do correct me if I am wrong here.
