Interesting, and also interesting that Dumble.com – the official home of DUMBLE® amplifiers, news, and information, has nothing about them.

Re: New Dumbles available
I've modded a 5E3 to Tweedle Dee based on available info on line. i have to say it does not sound like one depicted in this video, which I think sounds great. Was on wondering if folks think this version has updates?

Joe B says the original Tweedle Dee’s he had come into contact with were “a bit gainy” for his taste, so yea maybe. Could be some circuit mods and/or a different speaker. Then there’s the other two-thirds of the equation, the guitar and the player,,,

Note controls and jack as set up. Bright and gentle, and still a bitty barking beast --

Tweedle Dee plans here always show a 12AX7 first stage, maybe they've dialed that back to the 12AY7?martin manning wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2026 3:06 pm Joe B says the original Tweedle Dee’s he had come into contact with were “a bit gainy” for his taste, so yea maybe. Re: New Dumbles available
That would certainly take it in the right direction. It’d be interesting to hear from someone who has built a Tweedle to the spec published here on TAG.

Re: New Dumbles available
With that degree of distortion I thought I would heard the 2nd harmonic distortion created by the phase splitter's blocking distortion. The Tweedle Dee mod does provide negative feedback on the phase splitter, but since its unity gain, it doesn't reduce the blocking distorion signficantly. I'm speculating, but it almost seems like there's an increased series resistance to the grid of the phase splitter, but again I'm guessing.

Can't bonamassa turn down the gain control?

Re: New Dumbles available
There is nothing that says Dumble's designs can't be improved, and HAD himself would agree that tweaks to suit individual players are always on the table. I wonder if Joe B has any interest in the new Dumble enterprise? He's certainly endorsing the new Tweedle Dee, declaring to be better than the originals and much more affordable ;^)

How much are these new ones ?

Re: New Dumbles available
He implied that the cost is comparable to an original tweed deluxe you'd be likely to find in a vintage guitar shop. Still fairly nebulous...
