insert points for one tube reverb

Post by Slim66 »

Folks,

I have built the Swart style one tube(12DW7) cap coupled reverb for my Tweedle Dee Deluxe. It is currently connected using V1 pin 6 as the send, and V2 pin 2 as the return. It works, but doesn't sound like examples I've heard of Swart Atomic Space Tone amps.
What I'm hearing is a strong note surrounded by a "wash" with an extremely long decay. Is there another way to connect to the 5E3 that will give me a "wetter", more normal reverb sound?

Thanks,

Slim

You need to provide details, really a schematic of what you're referring to, for useful relevant suggestions to be made.
Whatever, the tank delay is largely a set characteristic of the tank, they're available with short, medium and long delays.

I'd consider V2, grids or cathodes

And your using a new correct spec tank for this build?

Where has that circuit design come from?
If it's your's, it would be beneficial for you to explain your design choices.
https://www.valvewizard.co.uk/reverbdriver.html
Why the potential divider on the tank output?
Why such a heavy load of 32k on the tank output?
Exactly what tank have you got?
They're available with vastly different specifications to suit different drive and recovery circuits, and with different delay characteristics.
Mixing the wet and dry signals together will result in the dry signal being reduced, that's the nature of passive mixers.
Note that well respected amps designed with reverb often have a drive and recovery stages for the wet signal, and a recovery stage for the passive mixer.
If you want a deep reverb effect you will have to accept some degree of dry signal attenuation.

Here is the article from Guitar.com that the circuit comes from: https://guitar.com/guides/diy-workshop/ ... amplifier/

So, what reverb tank have you got, what's its code?
