Lets hear some FET clips???

Post by amplifiednation »

Here's my 102 with the FET input, pretty wet signal with a Fuchs replay and Fush reverb into the D-lator.

Wild amount of gain.

I don't think we share enough clips...I don't even know if this is how is supposed to sound!

Here are some links to some FET clips I posted at TAG with detailed info concerning all the gear used (guitars, speaker cabinets etc.):

Sounds like a Fuzz tone with that gain. :D

Just goes to show how versatile Dumble amps are.

You don't have to play or sound like Larry Carlton.

I like your Anderson tele.

I built a couple along those lines.

I built mine too! Sides are hollow on these Tele's just no f-hole. Quilt maple over swamp ash. Flamed maple over prima vera.

That amp sounds good to me.

These video clips of a 4th generation "classic" ODS 100W might be interesting because some parts have been recorded using the FET input and some parts using the normal input (you'll notice which input is used at the beginning and at the end of some parts and sometimes when he switches between the normal and the FET input:

After living with and playing my #124 replica for about 5 years now, if I knew nothing about Dumble amps and just plugged into the FET channel I'd say it was a compressor.

Here's my Quinn 183 preamp, with the FET, PAB, and OD ON using a Dumbleator and the Power amp of a 6l6 100w Bluesmaster, Sounds like a dimed Marshall Plexi IMO:

Sounds great!

Yeah Tom, I use a Kodak Zi8 Handheld camera for all my vids. For the Quinn Preamp vids I used a small Mackie Mixer and a SM58, about 6 feet back from the cab.

I paid like $140 for the Camera, Extra battery, Tripod, and charger on Amazon. Its 1080/720p HD capable and its one of the only only handhelds with an External Balanced Mic Input. There's a Mic Level setting on the camera to adjust the sensitivity so that it doesn't distort. I highly recommend the Zi8 for anyone that wants to do vids on a budget.

For the Quinn SDO 2nd Gen vids I just use the built in Mic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvFGgLHV ... ature=plcp

Awesome clips guys!!

Max some of the ones you posted with the FET on the clean channel was really cool!!

Greg you are an awesome player I love listening to your videos...and I might have to jump on that camera! I'm sick of the camera mic!

It's cool to hear that ghostly type of gain is pretty consistant!

What clips are you referring to? I ask, because AFAIR for all these clips

http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 483#136483
http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 484#136484
http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 802#140802
http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 972#134972
http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 368#129368

the OD channel and the FET input have been used and not the clean channel and the FET input - so AFAIR just as I wrote in the descriptions of the signal chains. AFAIR only the short intro of "6000 part 1" has been recorded using the clean channel. But AFAIR for this short intro the normal input has been used.

So perhaps you did misunderstand the descriptions of the signal chains I posted together with these clips?

Cheers,

Max

Yes the clean part of 6000 was not what I was expecting and I thought it was very nice. I haven't done much with the FET input so it was a new sound to me which I enjoyed.

Thanks for posting.

Just to avoid misunderstandings:

"For the clean tone of the intro a Pearl Echo Orbit-1 has been used in front of the normal input of the ODS (clean channel)."

Ha, I have completely misunderstood.

Thanks for clearing that up.

I'm listening to the clips again.

Some nice funky bass lines in the elgam-collective... What does it mean it was never formed and will never split? All collaboration independently tracked?
