Re: Dumbleator Layout
Having just followed this layout, there is an error on the first two radial electrolytic caps, the polarity is the wrong way round. Exploding electrolytics aren't what you want at the end of a build

Re: Dumbleator Layout
Building to the attached layout works fine and seems to be similar to what was originally posted here. So, I'm not so sure there is a layout error.norburybrook wrote:Having just followed this layout, there is an error on the first two radial electrolytic caps, the polarity is the wrong way round. wish I'd seen that one first
check the very first post in this thread, first picture.
I always expect the original head of a thread to be the one with the most up to date layout.

Re: Dumbleator Layout
Never really understood why using a xformer with too little secondary voltage, anayway. Alternatively use two small cheap print xformers with the two secondary sides connected.
I use a 230v (in EU that is) primary with 12 volt secondary => into a 6 volt secondary of the 2nd xformer and get (almost) the double voltage on the primary, like 300volt. Besides feeding the 2nd transformer, the 12 volt ac secondary of the first transformer is used as heater voltage for the 12ax7.

Here's the Triad R-2C power transformer spec sheet with dimensions for the Dumblelator.

Re: jacks
It's quite a while later but in case anyone wanders across this in the future, I did use isolated jacks.

Re: Dumbleator Layout
Hi, sorry if this is a dead horse, I am wondering if anyone has built the series/parallel unit as shown by Structo? I there any confirmation that the layout works?

Re: Dumbleator Layout
Member Klaus has posted a Boogie serial-parallel solution using just a 25k pot. You might check into that. https://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=21205
Re: Dumbleator Layout
I built a Dumblelater using Structo's instructions (using stand-a-lone reverb PT) first and that works very well. Not the series-parallel one.
The 2nd unit I built from Ceriatone's version which also works well.

Re: Dumbleator Layout
Just curious if there's a BOM for this Dumbleator?
I looked around and don't seem to find one.

That's an old post resurrection
Funnily enough I've got a box here with a dumbleator in it ready to be made so you must have some sort of voodoo powers of intuition going on!
