rccolgan wrote: Fri May 23, 2025 10:23 am Thanks, guys. I showed Josh that there was literally one mention about the BBC-1 here back in 2008 lol. Never once did I see a pic of it. Not saying I'm an expert in all things Dumble, but I don't think it's talked about much. I remain strong supporting our open dialogue and community dissection of Dumble circuits.
Yes! this is a place to learn. To discuss and to explore the mystery.

If anyone owns the NOTADUMBLE you will see that JHS was actually quite respectful. There is a small poem written for Dumble on the PCB in silkscreen and I actually teared up reading it, it is sweet.

"His first amp was 1963, year after year they arrived, with more and more mystery."

To me that is ampgarage. Every time another one is posted, those of us who love these amps for the joy of what they are, clamor to learn more. Every time, there's something new, something interesting.

there is also written "RIP Howard - A brilliant man who loved shaping sound 6/1/1944 - 1/16/2022"

and "Semiconductors are made of a crystalline lattice" which to me, is a statement made in validation, in support of Dumble explaining his views about tube amps in the highly memed video
of course that's just my interpretation of it.

The mystery continues!

Just so you know, Dumble hated being called Howard. Josh knows this. So the opposite of respectful.

I agree with CW. Reverse engineering someone's work, giving it your own name and then profiting off of it is a far cry from respectful...

That's fair, in the video Josh says he doesn't know much about him so I suppose he just wasn't aware. I know that he preferred Alexander but it is what it is.

or put another way: You and I both know that but Josh and most people who aren't Dumble enthusiasts don't

Ryan, great work to put something together here. Can you let me know when you have more boards available?

It'll be interesting to see if the estate goes after them for the name.
What amp did you play it through Andy? Your amps sound great by the way. The notadumble in front of your amps would just mess up an already good sound.
Garden variety Fender Hot Rod. It turns out (Josh admits in the video), it's a Zen Drive clone on the OD side....It should have sounded better if that's the case.
