Editable D-style schematics

Re: Editable D-style schematics
This Bandmaster Ultra Phonix mod schematic is a guess and may contain errors. There was some discussion on the thread that the slope resistors (tone stack) are 47k which explains the difference between the editable version and the "edited Fender" version by Aaron Giffin.
The thread is here: http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=30285

Re: Editable D-style schematics
Excellent! Thanks Jeff!
Re: Editable D-style schematics
Tony was kind enough to share a schematic which will be referred to as D-33-109 . [/i]PLEASE check for ERRORS! And compare this editable version with the "original" version that Tony shared. It should be noted that the original version likely contains errors.
* NOTE: Please read Talbany's helpful response two posts down regarding this schematic.
AND note the links provided by Martin Manning which reference useful info for consideration also.
I have revised the editable SCH version to reflect as many of Talbany's edits as I am able to understand.
It also may be of use to look at the D-40 schematic IF you are attempting this build.
With respect, 10thtx
EDIT 3-9-2019 : I have added an editable schematic that is based off Talbany's "2nd Generation 50W" layout. PLEASE compare carefully with the layout and look for ERRORS. https://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=12870

Re: Editable D-style schematics
I'm not sure that Tony is the originator of this 33 schematic: http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 10#p384310
Perhaps he or someone else can comment on the actual source?
Edit: See linked thread... Traced by a Japanese builder.

To answer your question?.No I did not draw the #033 schematic I posted!.The schematic was posted a while back and given to us by Andy Fuchs from someone in Japan. This was before we/I had any info on the earlier 2nd generation amps. The switching that you asked about should be as per my 2nd gen layout here http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=12870
Questions and possible changes I would make to your schematic are.
1 The difference between the earlier 2nd & 3rd gen and later 4th gen/transitions are,
he grounded OD while in clean mode to avoid bleed back and ghost notes from occurring.
2 I believe he missed the ground wire on the OD network (under the board) so I would add that to your schematic.
3 The high 4/9 Meg grid to cathode (grid leak bias) resistors on the 1st 3 stages I suspect are a later modification since I have never heard of Dumble grid leaking any of his designs but there is no way to know for sure?.
4 The PI on the drawing is also suspect (100k plates 47k cathode?).Dumble used 47/51k Rp w/470 Rc using an AT7
If you want to do another IMO improved version of this amp I recommend using the later 4th gen relay design and axe the grid leaks and add in a 56K grid blocker on V2a as well as the correct Dumble values for the PI.This would be more in-line with the period correct 2nd gen w/updated relay network.
The loop looks good coming off the stack (before the vol) and mixed back in,in phase at the PI (220k)
I believe the level to be a 1M not a 2M as I think this is a mistake as well!
Let me know if I can help further!

Re: Editable D-style schematics
Thanks, Tony. I've already added an updated relay layout in the linked "Period Correct 2nd Gen" thread. http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 85#p383685

I won't go editing your post 10thtx, but that one above has some errors, I've updated it per notes from the other thread. Here's the latest, if you want to nuke the old .sch you have above please do so, or let me know and I can.
Edit: Fixed again due to another error Charlie Wilson found. and only going to update your post above from now on Thanks 10thtx

Does anyone know of a link to download the mac software? The original link posted doesn't work anymore.

Could you clarify how/where/why?jabguit wrote: ↑Sun Oct 10, 2021 11:08 amMy download of this contained a virus. Just so you know.pompeiisneaks wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 4:29 pm http://jschem.bplaced.net/

cheers,
I just put three things through a thorough scanner that pushes the scan against like a hundred known virus scanners, including some very reputable vendors, and they were:
the dmg file for macos
the exe file for windows
the entire website http://jschem.blaced.net/
Found exactly 0 viruses... Are you sure that there wasn't some warning about an unsigned app or similar that windows and macos now require for an app to be considered 'safe' by their standards? This is a wise protection, but not all code developers like this app have the resources to pay for a code signing certificate.
If you could clarify what exact 'virus' message yours had, or what virus scanner found it, I'd appreciate knowing.
(For curiositys sake if anyone wants to try scanning these how I did, check out: https://virustotal.com/
lets you do scans against many, many different AV engines. and I highly recommend you use it often for apps you download from the internet if it's seeming to come from a somewhat 'weird' place)

Can't give any details - just that my virus software (Panda) flagged it and put the download in quarantine.pompeiisneaks wrote: ↑Sun Oct 10, 2021 4:47 pmCould you clarify how/where/why?jabguit wrote: ↑Sun Oct 10, 2021 11:08 amMy download of this contained a virus. Re: Editable D-style schematics
Ok never heard of that one before, and just as an FYI my job is in IT and understanding security. I looked them up and the review I found of them was from PCMagazine (pcmag.com) and they gave it a 2.5 out of 5 rating. Seems it missed some pretty bad malware, and my guess for this case is that it's getting a false positive on the jschem software.
You may want to look for other alternatives. If you're on windows the built in windows defender for windows 10/11 is pretty highly regarded. If you're not, and on windows I highly recommend AFG Free antivirus. Their free verison works pretty well and gets decent reviews.
For mac I don't honestly know as well. I've not used a personal mac for over 10 years at this point. Work provided me one for a long time and they use one of the corporate ones like symantec or mcafee which are both known to be horrible... but I digress
I'll end my side path here off topic on that.
